Cynthia Butler-McIntyre, ’76, to Address Dillard’s Annual Honors Convocation


(New Orleans)- The Dillard University Office of Academic Affairs invites the Dillard University community to participate in the annual Honors Convocation set for Tuesday, March 25 at 11 a.m. in Lawless Memorial Chapel, 2601 Gentilly Blvd in New Orleans.

Honors Convocation is designed to acknowledge all students who were full-time and earned a 3.2 and above term GPA during the spring and/or fall 2013 semesters. This event provides an opportunity for students to celebrate their academic achievements with their families and friends. During this year’s convocation more than 500 students will be recognized.

Cynthia M.A. Butler-McIntyre, a 1976 Dillard University alumna, immediate past and the 24th national president of Delta Theta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is the keynote speaker. Butler-McIntyre is an educator who currently serves as director of human resources for the Jefferson Parish Public School System in Harvey, La.  She has impacted the lives of countless young people for over 30 years as a teacher, assistant principal, summer school principal and personnel administrator in her school district. Her professional experience includes serving as executive director of Tech-Prep Summer Program for Delgado Community College in New Orleans and as assistant coordinator of field experiences and College of Education supervisor for early childhood student teaching experiences for the University of New Orleans.

Butler-McIntyre earned a master of education degree from the University of New Orleans at the age of 20. She also holds an honorary doctorate of divinity degree from the Christian Bible College of Louisiana and honorary doctorate of humane letters from Dillard.
