Leslie M. Collins was among the first group of students to ever walk the Avenue of the Oaks to receive their degree in 1936 from what at the time of his graduation was the newly establish Dillard University. The university in fact was not even a year old when he earned his degree. He was active in student life becoming one of the original writers of the school newspaper The Courtbouillon.
Upon leaving Dillard he went on to graduate school and had a stellar career as a professor in higher education becoming Professor Emeritus at Fisk University. Please take a moment to read this article dedicated in his memory.
