As the world morns the loss of Maya Angelou Dillard University graduate Evan Cleaver recalls meeting Maya Angelou at a dinner.
Evan stated “There was this dinner with a bunch of fancy people and Dr. Maya Angelou was there. All these important people wanted to sit next to her, and she pointed to me and said “let the child sit by to me”. That’s how I’ll remember her. She was about the children! About the PEOPLE!!”
This is just one example of what a beautiful person she was and the legacy she leaves behind for all of humanity to love and understand one another.
