The annual spring national meeting was extremely productive. The Dillard University National Alumni Association (DUNAA) Executive Board gave updates and reports concerning their committee work. National President Pamela Francois highlighted several accomplishments that included the national alumni conference call with the university, the chartering of a new chapter, the reactivation of old chapters and achieving our official 501c3 organizational status from the federal government was just few of the highlights.
The national committee on awards honored several alumni for their service and dedication to DUNAA and Dillard University and the recipients were Malik Bartholomew, Rock Anderson, Charline Jacob and James Hawkins. Dr. James Alford presented a lifetime achievement award to Dr. Edwina Frank for her long standing support of Dillard University and her professional achievements in the health sciences. Dr. Frank is noted for founding several nursing programs including the nursing programs at Loyola University in New Orleans and Southern University in Baton Rouge.
The meeting continued with presentations of gifts in donations to Dillard University that were given to Dr. Walter Kimbrough by the national association and several of its chapters. Dr. Kimbrough then presented information concerning Dillard University to the alumni and in turn answered questions from the audience.
The meeting ended with the signing of our alma mater “Fair Dillard.”
