Dr. Valerie Francis noted Dillard University Opera Diva will perform this summer at the old historic St. Charles Avenue Baptist Church!
Dr. Valerie Francis together with daughter Imani Sarai Francis, soprano, and Wilfred Delphin, piano, will be performing art songs, arias, Negro spirituals and sacred music, at the beautiful, century old sanctuary of St. Charles Avenue Baptist Church, along St. Charles Avenue and Broadway, in New Orleans, on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at 7:30 PM.
Dr. Francis holds a BA, MM and DMA in Vocal Music Education/Performance from Dillard University, the University of New Orleans and the University of Oklahoma, respectively. She also attended the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. In 1994, she represented the Gulf Coast Region for the National Council Auditions at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. She has performed numerous roles with the University of New Orleans Opera Theater, Cimarron Circuit Opera Company, Shreveport Opera, New York Opera Studio, Opera Creole and the New Orleans Opera. She has performed with the Dallas Symphony and the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra as guest soloist. Today, she serves as a professor at Nicholls State University and Dillard University. She serves as Executive Director of “The Patriotic Project Statewide Youth Chorus,” providing the youth with opportunities to be exposed to the creative arts. Dr. Francis continues to perform locally, nationally and internationally
